Hi

Amy wondered if someone could optimise it a little, so I gave it a try.

The picture isn't that nice. I'll try to make a better picture later. I alsohave a Word file with all the puzzles but the forum won't allow me to attach it here. I could send it by email. Drop me a PM with your email address if you are interested.

Enjoy

Change the file type from ".doc" to ".txt" and you should be able to attach the Word file. Be sure to mention that it is a Word document and that any reader should change it back to ".doc" before opening it with MS Office.

Has anyone else tried this puzzle? I started it a while back but made some mistakes with the pencil marks, so got stuck and set it aside for a while. I picked it back up the other day and fixed the pencil marks. I've solved almost all of the puzzle, but I'm at a standstill with Grid #10, and I'm thinking it may be invalid (multiple solutions). Anyone else want to give it a go, maybe with a solver, and verify?

1to9only on the Enjoy Sudoku forum found the problem. There is a typo in the code for Puzzle #10:

Princess Amy wrote:
Puzzle 10 Triangles – (unknown how to put into software) (rating unknown – Moderate?)
Code:
6 . .|. 1 .|. . 8
. 8 1|2 . .|. 4 .
. . .|. . 8|1 6 .
-----+-----+-----
. . 8|. . .|. 3 .
1 . .|. . .|. . 6
. 3 .|. . .|8 . .
-----+-----+-----
. 1 7|. . .|2 . .
. 2 .|. . 3|9 8 .
9 . .|8 2 .|. . 7

Correction:
Code:
6 . .|. 1 .|. . 8
. 8 1|2 . .|. 4 .
. . 4|. . 8|1 6 .
-----+-----+-----
. . 8|. . .|. 3 .
1 . .|. . .|. . 6
. 3 .|. . .|8 . .
-----+-----+-----
. 1 7|. . .|2 . .
. 2 .|. . 3|9 8 .
9 . .|8 2 .|. . 7

Apparently there is another mistake in the puzzle code:

Quote:
Puzzle 6 Odd/Even – (unknown how to use solvers with clues given)
Note: Unique Rectangle “OK” as a solving technique for individual puzzle at this time

Code:
. 7 .|. . 3|. . .
. . .|5 . 2|. 6 .
2 . .|. . .|. . 8
-----+-----+-----
1 . 9|. . .|7 . .
. . 8|. . .|. 2 .
. . .|. . .|. . .
-----+-----+-----
. . .|7 . 5|. . 2
. . .|. . .|. . 1
7 6 4|. . .|. 9 .

Here is the corrected code, based on the image:
Code:
. 7 .|. . 3|. . .
. . .|5 . 2|. 6 .
2 . .|. . .|. . 8
-----+-----+-----
1 . 9|. . .|7 . .
. . 8|. . .|. 2 .
. 3 .|. . .|. . .
-----+-----+-----
. . .|7 . 5|. . 2
. . .|. . .|. . 1
7 6 4|. . .|. 9 .

Unfortunately, that still leaves Puzzle #6 with more than one solution, and apparently Amy is no longer around to correct it.

On the attach file issue: the simplest approach is to zip the file before attaching it.

I'm back in Nigeria and in action; after three months in Sierra Leone where I did not have internet outside the office.

Good to know, although I suspect that Para is long gone.
