There are four difficulties to choose from.
Here you can find more information regarding the required solving techniques for each difficulty.
All four difficulties are variations of the same puzzle, i.e. they have identical solutions.

This time I personally found the Apprentice version a bit too easy, so in the future I will probably try to notch it up a bit, unless feedback tells me not to do so.

On the paper the Guru version looks very difficult and requires 6 different advanced techniques, but wizard Glyn probably just pulls a thread (chain) somewhere and then the tapestry unravels completely.

A) Novice.
B) Apprentice (mainstream edition).
C) Master.
D) Guru.

Best so far for #2D needed 3 chains and an X-wing, to keep it as fish free as possible. Haven't checked if the X-wing can go as well. Didn't write them down so will have to recheck later.

Rechecked
Top Left Grid. One AIC.
Centre Grid. X-wing, XY-Wing, AIC and Skyscraper (one of each). (Must have use a contradiction move first time around  ).
Bottom Right Grid. One AIC.
Apart from that locked candidates and N/H sets.

Very Impressive. Just rearranged the solving techniques in JSudoku ... all chains directly after N/H Subsets. Then no X-Wing or other Fish is required, but N/H Singles, Intersections and 13 Chains.
Now I just have to restore the settings. Being able to save settings to a file would be a blessing, but perhaps :santa: comes before Christmas this year.

I found the mainstream vers to be a good match in difficulty level to the contest samurais at the old place.

Which were always a bit easy, yes -- you could certainly toughen them up a bit as far as I'm concerned. I'm curious to see what other 'mainstreamers' have to say if/when they start wandering over here and commenting....

It took me just over an hour to complete (apprentice.) Am I a mainstreamer? /shrug Used Clueless Helper and SudoCue to get past a few silly clues I overlooked in the middle puzzle. I don't really want to spend more than an hour on a single puzzle, so the time to solve was solid IMO.

It did seem that a lot of clues are generated in the middle puzzle to solve the outer puzzles. I would like to see more clues generated in the outer puzzles to either help with the inner or cascade to the other outer puzzles (locked candidate or naked pair/triple.) Was tempted to try the Master level difficulty but your rating scared me off, probably rightly so...

Thats my 2 cents. :salute:

Thanks for the feedback.
For the time beeing I will NOT do any changes to the difficulty.

Neither do I, but the time is of course dependent on skills and experience. For me it went quite a bit faster.

It would be interesting to know if you needed approx. the same time for Ruud's Samurais rated Tough? My personal solving time for Ruud's Samurais rated Tough varied extremely, 10-90 minutes, because I sometimes overlooked a naked pair in two cells wide appart.

IMHO quite similar to Ruud's Samurais. Just take a look at the images at SudoCue.net. But I can try to change that.
