This is another way of looking at a type of step which we have all used many times without thinking of it as a particular technique.

This is a position I reached in A58 V1.5.

After 45 rule on R6789 3 outies R5C123 = 16 = {169/259/349/367} (the combination {457} had been blocked by R5C789 = {149/167/347}) the next step in my walkthrough was
7 of {367} must be in R5C23 (R5C23 cannot be {36} because 15(3) cage in N4 cannot be {36}6) -> no 7 in R5C1

Here is another way to look at the final part of this step.
R5C123 = 16 = {169/259/349/367} (as above), there is 15(3) cage at R5C2 -> R5C1 cannot be 1 more than either candidate in R5C23 -> R5C123 cannot be 7{36} -> no 7 in R5C1
