However, the SudoCue solver log shows all but the last step.. Interestingly, though, the puzzle is solvable. So my questions are: 1. Is there any special reason that this puzzle, according to SudoCue, cannot be solved? 2. Why doesn't the solver log have the last step (the placing of a 6 in r8c7? I have never seen SudoCue mess up like this, so it must be me. Any comments are most welcome. Thanks and regards, George |

I'm confused. What does this string represent? The puzzle definition? The candidates? |

The big numbers and the possibilities for cells that aren't solved as of yet. Just paste the string into SudoCue. |

Sudocue says that the puzzle as given doesn't have a UNIQUE solution, not that it has NO solution. This is due to the fact that it is only one grid out of a larger puzzle. It DID solve the puzzle here, though. FWIW, SudokuSolver also solved it and got the same solution as Sudocue. What step do you think is missing from the log? Do you have any techniques turned off in the options? |

I figured out what is going on. If one pastes in just those cells with filled in "big" numbers, then some of the pencil marks are different, since they are determined with just the information known for that grid. What is being pasted in with the string I sent, has pencil marks that have been influenced by other parts of the samurai grid. So, SudoCue is not using the pencil marks based on Samurai eliminations when it issues the initial "warning" message. However, it does use the pencil marks in the solver log, as evidenced by the fact that a solution is reached. The 6 that I thought was missing from the steps was in fact there, I just missed it. The puzzle, with pencil marks based on the filled in cells truly does have more than one solution, but based on the additional pencil mark eliminations, does allow a unique solution to be determined. Bottom line, Ruud's message wording is just a little misleading. Oh well. |

It can't be techniques as I just solved it in hidden and naked singles. |
