I had this puzzle for some time now. It is a variant of Sumo (Gattai-13).
Grids 1, 3, 11 & 13 are Sudoku-X
Grids 2, 6, 8 & 12 are Windoku
Grids 4, 5, 9 & 10 are Asterisk Sudoku
Grid 7 is a Clover-X (Asterisk Windoku X)
It shouldn't need more than doubles to solve.
I will be posting the solution on Aug 29th 2011 (bank holiday in England)

I'm looking forward to trying this one, although I guess I'm going to have to spend some time working out all of the pencil marks first.

I just noticed that the A3 pdf has been downloaded 68+ times. It means that people have attempted to solve it manually. Well done

Hmmmm. . . Perhaps I'll have to give this one a try without pencil marks and see how I do.

UPDATE: Nope! Not happening here without pencil marks. I went ahead and did the pencil marks in SudokuSolver (one grid at a time), and now I'm on the first solving "round", grid #10. I foolishly thought I could knock this one out during a 3-hour wait for my kids this evening. Yeah, right!

CRUD!! I took this puzzle on a trip with me, and wouldn't you know it, I made a mistake on the second grid (second pass through the puzzle). Now that I'm home, I'll have to print that grid again and start over with it. I think I tend to make more mistakes on the Windoku than with other variations.

Dadgumit! I messed up on grid 2 AGAIN. Has anyone else completed this puzzle? "No pencil marks" indeed! :brickwall:

tarek, I hope you're still around. I'm giving this one another go.

I also gave it to a lady I met at the dentist's office the other day, and gave her a link to the forum here. She was very excited to see this puzzle, and said that she would be sharing it with her son as well. I warned her that pencil marks would be required, and she's familiar with those.

I'm still very much around but unfortunately not that much spare time to frequent these fora as much I used to.

Glad to hear that there is still some interest & Thanks for your continued interest and support...

Great to see you here again, tarek! I do hope you are able to find time to poke your head in here every now and then, and perhaps even post a new puzzle from time to time.
