I've got a new overlapping concept I promised Enxio I'd post against, however it is proving difficult to find designable and workable examples. This one came out as a byproduct in my experiments.

It is Sohie, so four puzzles, all Windoku and all X, so quite "restrained" in addition the four crossover nonets contain the old lace pattern making them even more restrained.

The puzzle is not minimal but I'd tried taking a few of the givens away and it fell into the ocean (i.e. lots of fishes).

Pointing pairs, intersections, law of leftovers, a hidden pair and a naked triplet. For those of you with keen eyes - not too difficult. Work the old lace heavily.

Hmmm. . . Looks interesting, very interesting! I'll have to give this one a try.

I've solved it (with the aid of JSudoku). Like Maurice said it doesn't require any fishy moves. I will reserve the honour of posting the solution for enxio27. :alien:

You mean I have to keep track of my moves?! :pallid:

No solution yet (this puzzle has to wait for the other two Bank Holiday Kazaguruma that tarek posted a while back), but here's the puzzle code:

Code:
26.....31........8....................9.6............7.....1....2.....8..........
9...............2.......................7.............................1.1........
........3.8.............................2.......................4....1..........4
..........1.....4.......................7...........2...................6.......5

Nope, just the solution grids (as 81-digit strings) would do. ;)

But not from the "solve recursively" options from softwares such as JSudoku, but actually with some of your own effort. It's just a gesture I have for all Maurice's puzzles, to make sure I at least post the solution grid when I finish one (so that he knows someone's actually doing them). This one I'll defer to you.

Ok, that I can do!

Enxio

When I post a new puzzle variant I generally try to get the level such that Matt can do it on paper (perhaps without pencil marks). This leaves some leeway for other solvers.

Maybe I will give it a try without pencil marks, but I won't make any promises. After all, I'm nowhere near as good at solving as Matt. :ugeek:
