Every now and then, I play around with letting Jean-Christophe's JSudoku automatically generate a higher-order gattai puzzle. It is a definitely an impressive accomplishment, that even in my clumsy hands, sometimes a rather interesting puzzle comes out of it. Here's one.

Master Level Gattai-8 #1

Hint #1:

There are a couple of spicy wings.

Hint #2:

Both XY wings are intergrid.

Is your definition of "master level" the same as Børge's and tarek's?

After having solved the puzzle, my conclusion is that jsmif's definition of "master level" is equal to tarek's and mine. To solve the puzzle I needed more than one "Super Hard" technique, according to my rating table.

Thanks for a great puzzle. I had a good time solving it.

I especially liked several of the N/H-Subsets I used, even if some of them are probably not necessary for solving the puzzle.
While searching for the cracking techniques I found a red herring Empty Rectangle.

A mini-mini Walktrough:

enxio27: That is correct, I was using Børge's definition. I was specifically looking for puzzles with lots of intersections and 1-2 "super hard" moves (but no more).

I'll certainly share any good "mainstream" or "journeyman" puzzles I run into in the future, though.

Børge: glad you enjoyed!

OK. I think this one is definitely out of my league for now, then.

I appreciate that! I'm currently at the "Hard" level, trying to work my way up to "Very Hard".
