The server crashed due to a hard disk failure. It is currently not known whether the data was saved, see here.

I hope they recover the data because especially the theoretical threads about number of Sudokus, minimal number of clues, max min number and so on, were very interesting! I would be a great loss, if they can't get back some of the data. :pallid:

Indeed.
There also were several highly interesting threads regarding sudoku solving theory.

The current state of any data recovery can be found here:

The machine that was hosting the original forum and it's content had a severe hard drive failure and we're currently looking into solutions for recovering the data. We're not sure if a backup was maintained and what condition that backup might be in (the forum has essentially gone untouched since we purchased the domain and site from the original owner). I'll keep you posted on the progress on that front.

I don't know. It's best to ask on both (programmers and new one) forums.

You need to have posted using an already established Username on the old Sudoku.com forum and an identical one on the Programmers forum to qualify for an automatic identical username on the new Sudoku forum.

It is still in the experimental phase so it is understandable that limitations on the 1st wave of Users should be in place. I'm not sure if you'll be granted an automatic identical Username if you register now with the programmers forum. Do it & PM gsf or JasonLion.

I'll update you with anything new regarding this issue.
