The puzzle is valid (it has a unique solution), but it offers no eliminations at all - it can only be solved with some form of brute force.
It was designed that way, of course. I was trying to find puzzles that were computationally challenging, so I experimented with configurations using 5-cell cages. You can pack 16 of these into a grid, and they offer the maximum potential number of digit combinations.
The results confirm my original suspicion - that, just like Kakuro, you can make Killer's extremely hard!
BTW: I just used SumuCue as a convenient image generator. It might even be able to solve it ... but don't hold your breath!
