Yes a calculator is far better for this than a computer. Computers are a bit too precise, but not in the usual sense of the word. Extra hint Hidden Text: |

I hope the answer is not relevant to this. I'm geeky but not that geeky... 1456279308 -> BOEGLZgShI (typing the digits into an old-fashioned calculator and rotate it 180 degrees) |

It helps if you break the number(s) up. |

Nice idea Børge, but breaking it into 7's might help. |

Glyn wrote: But breaking it into 7's might help. Tought so.But the question is: Case 1: 1456279308 as a complete number: 1010110110011010000111100001100 Case 2: each digit as binary: 0001 0100 0101 0110 0010 0111 1001 0011 0000 1000 Case 3: ???? Neither Case 1 nor Case 2 gives a multiple of 7, so if this is the right path, do I add leading or trailing zeros or ones, or do a sign bit extension? Glyn wrote: It helps if you break the number(s) up. Suggests Case 2Or something completely different: Figure out where 14°56'2" - 79°30'8" is? |

Teased my brain so much I have to admit a defect in the poser. (mental note to get my eyes tested, the calculator isn't developing a fault) here's what it should read is:- What is the significance of the number 1456273908? I suggest you use a Magnifier as well to make sure. 1) The number 7 is significant to this but not in a mathematical sense. 2) Breaking the digits up is a good idea. Bonus points why did I mistake the number first time around? |

Oscar you are definitely on the right track about the lines. Your calculator works like mine. I'll leave you to think a bit longer and give another hint if necessary. |

Anything to do with an increasing number of LED segments needed to make up the digits on a claculator display. 1 only needs 2 segments, 8 requires 7 segments. Digits in between are (generally) increasing number of segments Just a W.A.G Rgd Richard |
