Yes a calculator is far better for this than a computer. Computers are a bit too precise, but not in the usual sense of the word.

I hope the answer is not relevant to this.

I'm geeky but not that geeky... :ugeek:

1456279308 -> BOEGLZgShI (typing the digits into an old-fashioned calculator and rotate it 180 degrees) :geek:

It helps if you break the number(s) up.

Does it help converting 1456279308 to Octal or Binary?

Nice idea Børge, but breaking it into 7's might help.

Tought so.

But the question is:
Case 1: 1456279308 as a complete number: 1010110110011010000111100001100
Case 2: each digit as binary: 0001 0100 0101 0110 0010 0111 1001 0011 0000 1000
Case 3: ????

Neither Case 1 nor Case 2 gives a multiple of 7, so if this is the right path, do I add leading or trailing zeros or ones, or do a sign bit extension?

Suggests Case 2

Or something completely different: Figure out where 14°56'2" - 79°30'8" is?

Teased my brain so much I have to admit a defect in the poser. (mental note to get my eyes tested, the calculator isn't developing a fault) here's what it should read is:-

What is the significance of the number 1456273908?

I suggest you use a Magnifier as well to make sure.

1) The number 7 is significant to this but not in a mathematical sense.
2) Breaking the digits up is a good idea.

Bonus points why did I mistake the number first time around?

looks like the representation by stright lines in a squared 8 shaped display mignt be evoked.
But the number of lines needed for each digit in the whole number do not show any logic: 2456535567.

Oscar you are definitely on the right track about the lines. :applause: Your calculator works like mine.
I'll leave you to think a bit longer and give another hint if necessary.

Anything to do with an increasing number of LED segments needed to make up the digits on a claculator display.

1 only needs 2 segments, 8 requires 7 segments. Digits in between are (generally) increasing number of segments
