I've been trying to see if there's any sense I can make by connecting the vertices of a decagon in the sequence of digits . . .

. . . I get a lovely spider-web pattern, but nothing else

By taking the absolute difference between two adjacent digits I got these two nice inverse pyramids, where every line in one pyramid is the inverse of the same line in the other pyramid ;) . And in each pyramid the 5 bottom lines are identical and palindromic:
Code:
  6 8 4 2 0 7 5 1 9 3
   2 4 2 2 7 2 4 8 6
    2 2 0 5 5 2 4 2
     0 2 5 0 3 2 2
      2 3 5 3 1 0
       1 2 2 2 1
        1 0 0 1
         1 0 1
          1 1
           0

  3 9 1 5 7 0 2 4 8 6
   6 8 4 2 7 2 2 4 2
    2 4 2 5 5 0 2 2
     2 2 3 0 5 2 0
      0 1 3 5 3 2
       1 2 2 2 1
        1 0 0 1
         1 0 1
          1 1
           0

Matt I guess the special isn't unique then if the reverse has the same 'specialness'.

In desperation I reached for my calculator and got the result 1456279308. (One for the future perhaps).

You're right I guess the specialness is not unique. There are other "similarly special" numbers but the sheer fact that you guys have worked out so many interesting properties for that particular number makes it pretty special compare to others! :D

I hope that's not the next brainteaser. :pallid: Although it's not a bad idea to "give one a taste of his own medicine"... :drunk:

Why is 6842075193 a special number?

Abs(3-9) = 6
Abs(9-1) = 8
Abs(1-5) = 4
Abs(5-7) = 2

Here is the major hint:
Hidden Text:
The other day I went to a town called Rebmun to visit my aunt Slaremun Cibara-Udnih & her husband Stigid Lamiced. Their 2 youngest kids, Net & Nevele came out to greet me. I asked them where were their elder brothers & sisters, and they told me they're lining up for a group photo.

Pretty ugly game tonight. :(

Bit of a big clue there Matt. Now why didn't I try that.

I'll hide it in case anyone still wants to try.

In response to Glyn's answer:

"How many times do I need to tell you, my name is ruof, not rouf!", yells one of the boys... :rambo:

Other than that Major you've earned the right to post the next one. Break a leg! ;)

In that case the new teaser especially for Matt, as I know he couldn't wait is:-

What is special about the number 1456279308?

Time for some hints mate. :brickwall:

I know it's about calculator, but hopefully not one of those "inverted calculator screen message" stuffs...
