1. What's purple and commutative?

2. What's green and very far away?

3. What's yellow and equivalent to the Axiom of Choice?

I know the first one:
Hidden Text:
an abelian grape

It was the one and only joke attributed to our Professor Rankin in Glasgow

How is this a math riddle? Hint: Think along the lines of the answer to the first one.

OK - how about a unified quantum field theory
fields (like hedges) are generally green, and an accepted unified theory is still a long way off . . .

for the second one:
Hidden Text:
an infinite lettuce?

No ideas for the third one though: Axiom of Choice wasn't on my syllabus, so I'm very vague about it.

regards

PS scrub that: with a bit of a dabble in Google and Wikipedia, I have candidates after all:
Hidden Text:
Zorn's lemon
or
Hidden Text:
Tukey's lemon

That'll be it then

cheers
