Don't know if there is any protocol for posting a solution for one of these Masters. I'll try this and see if there are any concerns or better ideas. I've let SudokuSolver do All Simpler (SSAS) using the attached routine order in order to get to the interesting stuff. I don't solve like this since not all of it is simple for me to find.
Note: you can download the Routine order to your computer then click Solver-Options-Import into SudokuSolver.

G1 etc refers to the grid number. I'm assuming the middle grid is G3 and see that SS does this too.

In case anyone is interested, the SudokuSolver score is 2.61, much higher than the Apprentice version of 0.74. Felt much harder too!

It's possible I've been tricked with steps 1 and 2 since they involve cells in the overlapping nonets. Please post if it's wrong.

Regular Samurai #79C (Master) Key eliminations only Solution
Hidden Text:
From SSAS
1. G2: r8c14 cannot be [21] since it would force multiple solutions into r48c79 = {56/56}
1a. -> no 1 in r8c4 -> r8c4 = 8
[edit: corrected typo in 1a. Thanks Børge. But 1. is correct I'm pretty sure. I saw this step differently to Børge's corrections in following post]

2. G2: r8c12 cannot be [12], same logic as step 1 -> r8c2 cannot be 2

From SSAS
3. G1: r8c79 cannot be {27} because of r8c4 nor {26} because of r7c7 -> no 2 in r8c9

4. G3: x-wing on 2s in c3 and c8-> 2 locked for r1 & r6

SSAS to end

Really hard puzzle. Thanks Børge.
Ed

Ed,

Thanks for your feedback and WT. :applause:

Hopefully this will become a regular event.

Really hard puzzle. Thanks Børge.
I rated this puzzle "Ultra Hard", which is the topmost (most difficult) rating for a Master level puzzle. So it should be hard, mainly due to the Uniqueness Test 3, which is a tricky technique to spot and use correctly. And it is required pretty early on, making it even more difficult to spot.

The other possible ratings for a Master level puzzle are "Very Hard", "Extra Hard" and "Super Hard". When generating a Regular Samurai puzzle, which is a semi-manual-automatic process, I try to vary the difficulty level. But I normally use the first suitable puzzle generated. Due to the lack of enthusiastic feedback, I do not feel overly inspired to put in more effort than absolutely necessary to get a suitable puzzle.

Corrected for some misspelled column numbers in 1/1a your WT is correct:

From SSAS
1. G2: r8c24 cannot be [21] since it would force multiple solutions into r48c79 = {56/56}
1a. -> no 1 in r8c4 -> r8c4 = 8

2. G2: r8c12 cannot be [12], same logic as step 1 -> r8c2 cannot be 2

From SSAS
3. G1: r8c79 cannot be {27} because of r8c4 nor {26} because of r7c7 -> no 2 in r8c9

4. G3: x-wing on 2s in c3 and c8-> 2 locked for r1 & r6

SSAS to end

Here my WT:
Hidden Text:
From SSAS
1) Uniqueness Test 3 on {56) in g2
1a) g2:r48c79 + g2:r8c1 => Naked Pair {12} in g2:r8c179; otherwise g2:r48c79 = {56/56} would have multiple solutions.
1b) Naked Pair {12} in g2:r8c179 -> g2:r8c24 <> {12} -> g2:r8c4 = 8

From SSAS
2-1) XYZ-Wing on 2 with pivot g1:r8c7 and pincers g1:(r8c4 + r7c7) -> g1:r8c9 <> 2 [sees the 2 in the pivot and both pincer cells]. This is Ed's Step 3.
OR
2-2) Finned X-Wing on 2 in g3:r16c38 with fin g3:r2c3 -> g3:r1c1 <> 2 = 6

3) X-Wing on 2 in g3:r16c38 -> 2 locked for g3:(r1 + r6)

SSAS to end
