This one seems pretty easy. I think I'll try it without pencil marks first.

No, I'm still working on it. As I said, I'm trying it without pencil marks first. So far I've gotten about 20 cells. It's not going very fast (and I won't have uninterrupted time to work on it until later this evening). I'm not accustomed to solving multi-grid puzzles all at once (instead of grid by grid). If I get stumped, I already have it printed out with pencil marks.

How did you manage to capture the puzzle image? I tried a screen shot, but couldn't get the whole puzzle at once.

I've just coded that Ninja structure into SudokuSolver and loaded your definition. Unfortunately, it runs into an error after a couple of hundred steps with an invalid placement in the centre grid.

I'll double check it back to the captured image just to make sure there isn't a mis-transcribed digit in there somewhere.

EDIT: there is a transcription error in the puzzle string you posted. R4C6 in the top grid should be a 6, not an 8. I've run it through SudokuSolver and it only gets part way through without having to resort to 1 trial and error step. Either the puzzle doesn't have a unique solution, or else SudokuSolver doesn't have enough techniques to solve it.
