Cageless Killer 1

Here is a much harder one.

The sums are in the top left hand corners of the cages.

I used the assumption that "singleton cages are not allowed", but I would like to have solved it without using that assumption.

I actually solved the Torygraph one assuming that singleton cages were possible and ended up discovering that there was none. I found that approach more "enjoyable"!

So is the solution for this puzzle still unique if singleton cages are allowed?

I found "no singles" vital for solving N7, but have not tried to do the puzzle without this constraint.

For the newspaper ones I would estimate that they are almost all unique without this constraint. This is based on my experience with always doing easy killers as KiMos where about 1% are not unique.

After another attempt I've decided that it is too inhumanly evil to try this puzzle assuming singleton cages are allowed.

Perhaps with a lot of time one can keep using trial-and-error to find out if there is an alternative solution with a singleton cage, or it is indeed unique. But not for me, not for now. :pallid:
