Can someone help me in generating the subject type of puzzles using JSudoku? When I set things up by choosing greater than, and then generate a puzzle, all I get is a screen where every cell has a greater than sign on its boundary with the adjacent cell and no big number (clues) are shown. I was expecting to see a puzzle along the lines that djape produces.

The second question, does Sudoku Solver support this type of puzzle?

Regards to all,
George

I've been thinking about them again. Last time I did not work it out with JSudoku but I'll give it a try again and let you know.

Maurice,

Thanks so much for trying. I just figure that there is something not working correctly with that part of the program.

No luck, but the largest latin square <> it will generate is 8*8.

What I suggest you do is let it generate a Sudoku and then leave out constraints until it is suffficiently hard. Very manual process unfortunately.

Maurice,
Thanks for lookinginto it for me.

Unfortunately, JC flew the coop like Ruud did. So unfortunate that these very talented people disappeared. At least Richard is still here.

Have an enjoyable weekend.

George

JSudoku will generate a 9*9 latin square if you persevere.

I think JC had gone as far as he felt reasonable in adding bells and whistles.
