Worked out how to finish off the Insane version.
I'm not exactly sure how you did your move h3lix but this is a way I can see that very helpful elimination.
From my marks pic above with r4c12 = [35] (
)
1. No 7 in r2c3. Like this. r47c6 = (478) -> must have at least one of 4/7.
1a. If r8c6 = 4 -> r8c23 = [67] -> no 7 in r2c3
1b. if r4c6 = 7 -> r4c5 = 8 -> r3c5 = 7 -> no 7 in r2c3 from AN
But that move still didn't crack it for me.
Here's another step which works from my marks spot above (with r4c12 = [35]) which combined with step 1 does crack it.
2. no 9 in r3c7 because of r5c7. Like this. r5c7 = (78)
2a. if 7 -> r4c5 = 8 (from AN) -> r3c5 = 7 -> r3c9 = 9 -> no 9 in r3c7
2b. If r5c7 = 8 -> r7c7 = 9 -> no 9 in r3c7
We got there!

I started SudokuSolver on scoring this puzzle after turning off all the chains this morning and it's still solving...
SS is usually pretty quick so it must have found another problem. It needs the
Bingo Lite routine/
ALS Complex ticked to get it to solve without the chains. I'm guessing it is still on the "default" routines settings which has these unticked. I always have the "scoring" routines as my "default" list (use
solver-options-scoring radio button-save radio button). The scoring routine which will then be the one that opens whenever SS opens - which includes Bingo (the Lite Bingo can often be much more human-like, though not in this puzzle, than the ALS Complex).
