Here's something I designed with red, white, and blue stars representing different multiples of five. A red star means the sum of the entries equals 10, white for 5, and blue for 15. Inside each cage, clues are placed between cells whenever possible so lack of a star gives important information as well. (No clues are placed on the major gridlines.) Solution and a PDF can be found here: https://quadratablog.blogspot.com/2020/ ... uzzle.html |

I like the concept! Hopefully this puzzle isn't out of my league with respect to difficulty, but I'll give it a try. |

An enjoyable puzzle, but unless I'm missing something, it has multiple solutions (can't figure a way to show the stars from SudokuSolver): Attachment: Quadrata Fives Star Sumdoku.png [ 24.02 KiB | Viewed 7813 times ] |

Hi enxio One of David specialties is if and only if. Note r4c9 cannot be a 3 as this would require a star to its left. This negative inference has only been used to lock down the multiple solutions, I would like to see it needed earlier in the solution process. Maurice |

Hmmmm. . . I interpreted that "if and only if" differently. I did not interpret it to mean that two adjacent squares MUST have a star in order for their sum to equal a multiple of 5. If that's the case, then I guess I need to rework the puzzle. |

As I said in this one it is only needed for the final lock down. I'll try and make one where it is incorporated in the puzzle. |

Ok, then, I have it finished. A fun little puzzle with a great theme, but the added constraint makes it a little exhausting. Definitely not a bedtime puzzle. |

Yeah it definitely takes a bit more work when you have to focus on the places where there are no clues, in addition to the ones where there are. Thanks for checking it out! |
