The SudokuSolver forum has now gotten it first spam posts and some pretty naughty ones too.

RICHARD,
Please delete the users EshkaOlssen and JaildKids and all posts by them.
If possible, please add the "Report Post" button, so you can easily be alerted to spam posts in the future.

The little button in the lower right of the post with the red exclamation mark is the "report post" button.

OK

I've cleaned up the offending topics and deleted and banned the users in question. I have to do a lot of maintenance to clear out fake registrations - these particular ones registered and posted within a couple of hours yesterday, so didn't get picked up in my usual pruning.

I already have measures in place to prevent automatic spam - but these seem to have been *real* people doing it rather than Bots - which are harder to stop.

I've taken steps to blanket ban registrations from certain IP ranges and email domains to try to curb it a bit more.

I also think these ones were real people, but I assume that if they get their postings removed (fairly quickly) and none of the normal guests here are foolish enough to click on any links, pictures, etc. in spam posts (which very likely is registered), they will probably stop posting, since it is work without any profits.

It is far from guaranteed that clicking any links, pictures, etc. in spam posts actually forwards you to a real web site, but instead tries to exploit any software vulnerabilities on your PC (browser, OS, etc) in an attempt to install malware on your PC.

Thanks, Richard! That was particularly nasty! I have young children at home who often look over my shoulder as I'm online. Thankfully they weren't in the room when I opened the Russian one, not expecting to see anything out of the ordinary.

In my view is the post by Stuttyfluople SPAM, and should be removed, as well as the user.
It is not sudoku related and is no genuine call for help, but probably a trap.

Thanks for pointing it out.

I agreed, and the user is gone - along with the SPAM post.

I will try to operate a zero tolerance of spamming - this wasn't so obviously offensive, but I have seen too many people suckered into stuff by these kind of links and I don't want this forum to be a help to any of these people.

Please continue to alert me to any suspicious or offensive items.

I am very happy and grateful for your stance on this. Please keep up the excellent work.
Unfortunately, I have also experienced people being exploited and ripped off by these kind of links.

Thanks and regards
Børge
