Installation Guide

In this SkyDrive folder you can find and download the Excel workbook "udosuk Style Killer Cages .xls", which I use for making the Killer Sudoku images I have been posting.
It contains a single worksheet named Quick User Guide, which contains an incomplete quick user guide. I have only put in the most important stuff.
I have reserved the next post in this thread, titled User Guide, where I will try to put up a complete user guide.

The most important command is CTRL+SHIFT+V, which adds a new worksheet and draws the killer in the PS, SumoCue or tarek code on the clipboard. The "Colour cages" dialog is automatically shown.
A cell in one or more cages can now be selected, and by pressing an Apply button these cages are coloured with the colour assigned to that button.
To select several cages, hold the CTRL key pressed.

After you have downloaded "udosuk Style Killer Cages .xls" you should try to execute it. If you get an error message similar to the one below, you need to add or replace the ActiveX library MSCOMCT2.OCX
Image

You can either download the the ActiveX library MSCOMCT2.OCX from the above mentioned SkyDrive folder or from Microsoft using the instructions found here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297381
Instructions for installing ActiveX library MSCOMCT2.OCX:
Windows 95, 98, or Me:
======================
1) If the file C:\windows\system\MSCOMCT2.OCX exists, rename it to C:\windows\system\MSCOMCT2.OLD.OCX
2) Move the file MSCOMCT2.OCX to C:\windows\system\MSCOMCT2.OCX
3) Using the mouse, click on the "Start" button and then click on "Run".
4) In the new Run window enter the following string and click the OK button:
regsvr32 \windows\system\MSCOMCT2.OCX

Windows NT or 2000:
===================
1) If the file C:\WINNT\system32\MSCOMCT2.OCX exists, rename it to C:\WINNT\system32\MSCOMCT2.OLD.OCX
2) Move the file MSCOMCT2.OCX to C:\WINNT\system32\MSCOMCT2.OCX
3) Using the mouse, click on the "Start" button and then click on "Run".
4) In the new Run window enter the following string and click the OK button:
regsvr32 \WINNT\system32\MSCOMCT2.OCX

Windows XP, Vista or 7:
=======================
1) If the file C:\windows\system32\MSCOMCT2.OCX exists, rename it to C:\windows\system32\MSCOMCT2.OLD.OCX
2) Move the file MSCOMCT2.OCX to C:\windows\system32\MSCOMCT2.OCX
3) Using the mouse, click on the "Start" button and then click on "Run".
4) In the new Run window enter the following string and click the OK button:
regsvr32 \windows\system32\MSCOMCT2.OCX

Contrary to what I wrote HERE, I have decided to lock the VBA code. The password to unlock it is Assassin.
The reason for locking it is to avoid VBA code being shown and the VBA coding GUI getting activated in case the program should crash.
I have not experienced a crash in a long time and the released version has no known bugs.
Getting out of and closing the VBA coding GUI can be difficult if you have no experience with it, and could result in the VBA code getting changed and disintegrated.

EDIT 2010-05-17:
If you download the files with Firefox, a leading and a trailing "_" character may be added to each file name.
They must be removed after the download.
Thanks to Ed for bringing this to my attention.
