Hi Richard,

I've noticed that although scoring doesn't affect the UI, it does affect the underlying grid. After pasting in a prospective puzzle definition, one of the first things I usually do is to perform a Score. Depending on the scoring results, I sometimes want to step through the puzzle to have a look in more detail at what moves are involved. Trouble is, if I perform a Step (F10) immediately after a Score (F7), I immediately get the solution and the log message "Puzzle Completed"! In order to step through after performing a score, I have to re-paste the puzzle definition in again first.

Would it be possible to either perform the scoring on a copy of the grid, or backup/restore the grid state before/after doing the scoring, so that the the re-paste in the above scenario is unnecessary?

This has only just started in recent releases. Another way to get around this is to use the << "Undo to previous bookmark or starting position" button. Saves having to re-paste the definition.

However, my preference is the same as Mike's - the old way.

That's what's commonly called a bug - I will go out bug-hunting
