I talked to Richard about this issue. He said he doesn't have a computer running Win98. So I think it best to ask others who might still be runn 98, as I am. In Sudoku Solver (Richard's program) I cannot get it to run under Win98SE. I have net framework 2 running. I have tried my desktop and laptop Win98SE computers. When I double click, the hard disk tries to load, but 15 seconds, all is quiet on the Western Front. Are there any others on the forum that are able to get Sudoku Solver to run underWin98SE?

This is my computer of choice, since my wife uses the other computer (XP) and I want to be able to use this program on my two computers.

Thanks in advance for any help on this question.

Regards,
George

Hi George

I've got a Win98 OS up and running in a VMWare session on my machine and I can see the problem.

This is something to do with the way .Net is enforcing security policy. Basically, your PC doesn't trust the SudokuSolver application.

I have a security workaround that fixes it, but this requires me to send you a security token, and then you have to put in a rather messy DOS command to set it all up - there must be a simpler way, so I'm still exploring.

Rgds
Richard

Hi Richard,

That is good news! Thanks for taking the time to try to figure this out. I know most people have given up on 98, but it still does fairly good for me, except when Windows Exporer stops working and freezes up the computer. I do not know why that happens.

I want to be able to have your program running on my desktop and laptop. For some reason(s), I have never been able to get the laptop working on the internet, so I hope whatever work-around you come up with is not dependent on an internet connection.

Regards,
George
