Congrats on getting it to work. My sumocue code came from SS when I had it export the definitions. Now I wonder why I got a different text string?

Went back to SS and I still get the same sumocue as I did earlier. Very strange.

Did you manually enter the puzzle into SS?

I did, but also entered a puzzle. Then I cleared the cells so just the grid remained.

So the SumoCue code you posted is just the grid without the numbers? That may be your problem. The one I posted is the full puzzle.

I used SudokuGrabber to help with the givens (not perfect), and then I imported that into SS and defined the nonets. After I did that, I exported the puzzle definition.

BTW, I found the source of your puzzle. :)

Now that I have the grid in JSudoku, I tried to generate a puzzle. I keep getting a message, within a few seconds, that says "Could not find a suitable grid. Please reset the generator to defaults and try again."

The other night I had no problem generating a puzzle in JSudoku with my own jigsaw grid that I had enetered. Can you generate a puzzle with the grid from this evening? Of course, our list of techniques are probably different.

OK, now working. What changed, I do not know why. See if this puzzle will load in ss, that was generated from JS.

SumoCueV1=0J0=0J0=9J0=0J0=4J0=0J1=0J1=0J1=0J1=0J0=0J0=0J0=0J0=0J2=0J2=0J1=0J1=2J1=0J3=0J3=0J3=5J4=0J2=7J2=0J2=0J1=0J1=6J3=0J3=0J4=0J4=0J2=9J2=0J2=0J5=0J5=5J3=0J3=0J6=8J4=0J4=0J4=0J2=0J5=0J5=0J3=0J3=0J6=0J6=0J6=0J4=0J4=0J5=7J5=0J7=4J7=0J6=0J6=0J6=0J4=0J5=8J5=0J5=0J7=0J7=0J7=0J6=0J6=3J8=8J8=0J8=0J8=0J7=9J7=0J7=0J7=0J8=0J8=0J8=0J8=0J8

That worked. :)

The error message you got from JSudoku is likely to be one of not enabling enough solving techniques before trying to generate the puzzle.

I don't believe you can create a SumoCue of JUST the grid pattern (no numbers) and have it work. Perhaps Richard can make it work with my coding method, using all zeroes for the numbers, but that will have to come later.

Glad the puzzle worked. It appears that the jigsaw sumcue string must be a valid puzzle. Having a number in just one cell didn't work either. So what that means is if one comes up with a jigsaw grid they like, then there isn't a way to import in Jsudoku to generate a puzzle, unless you already have a valid puzzle.

skip the above. I created the following template in SS, pasted it into JS and generated the puzzle below. Then I was able to paste back into SS.

SumoCueV1=0J0=0J1=1J1=0J2=0J2=0J2=4J2=0J2=0J2=0J0=7J1=0J1=5J1=0J1=2J1=0J1=4J1=0J2=3J0=0J0=0J0=0J3=0J3=0J3=0J3=0J2=1J2=0J5=6J6=0J0=0J0=5J3=0J3=0J3=7J4=0J4=0J5=0J6=0J0=6J0=0J3=3J3=0J4=0J4=0J4=0J5=8J6=0J6=0J6=6J8=0J8=0J8=1J8=0J4=7J5=0J5=0J6=0J6=0J8=0J8=0J7=0J7=6J4=0J5=1J5=0J6=2J8=0J8=8J8=0J7=6J7=0J4=0J5=0J5=9J6=0J7=0J7=0J7=7J7=0J7=0J4

Hmmmm. . . Interesting!

I really hope that Richard adds support for my jigsaw string code. Making templates would be SOOOO much easier! And if you wanted to generate a puzzle, you could always export the template to SumoCue so that JSudoku could import it and generate the puzzle. Of course, if SS could generate puzzles, that would be even better!!

Another jigsaw site I just found:

http://www.sudokuwiki.org/Print_Daily_Jigsaw.asp

Daily jigsaw puzzles with a 30-day archive.
